Steve Bibas, CPA

Steve Bibas is responsible for overseeing the annual audits and reviews for a diversified clientele in the internet advertising, finance, broker dealers, insurance, publication , and real estate industries. He also provides tax-planning strategies for limited liability companies, corporations, partnerships, and proprietorships. He also oversees the accounting outsource group that effectively becomes the accounting department for private and public companies.  He manages this group to accurately and timely provide services from bookkeeping, accounting, financial and SEC reporting, tax compliance and representation to administration and correspondence with government agencies and all third party vendors, banks, transfer agents, attorneys and investor groups.

Mr. Bibas currently is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and is also active in the firm’s business development and continuing education programs.

Mr. Bibas received his BBA in Public Accounting and his MS in Taxation from Bernard M. Baruch College. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (“NYSSCPA”). Mr. Bibas also served on various NYSSCPA’s committees.  He is also active in the firm’s Continuing Education program.

Steven J. Eller, CPA, JD

Steven J. Eller, CPA, JD is a Tax Partner and serves on the firm’s Executive Committee.  Mr. Eller also  chairs the firm’s State and Local Taxation Services Group.  Mr. Eller has over 25 years of professional experience assisting individuals, businesses, as well as estates and trusts plan for and comply with Federal, State and Local regulations.  He advises clients with respect to sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, residency and nexus issues, with a focus on strategy planning and compliance.  Mr. Eller’s industry expertise includes real estate, manufacturing and closely held and family businesses.  Mr. Eller has also been influential in having both New York State and New York City change various provisions of their tax laws and regulations in favor of individuals and businesses.

Mr. Eller received his J.D. from Widener University School of Law (formerly Delaware Law School of Widener University), and his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Delaware.  He is a CPA in New York and New Jersey and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (“NYSSCPA”), and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.  Mr. Eller is a licensed attorney in New Jersey and admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. He is the former chairman of the NYSSCPA’s New York, Multistate and Local Tax Committee, the current Co-chair of its legislative subcommittee and a member of the New York State Taxpayer Advisory Council.  For the past ten years, Mr. Eller has chaired and lectured at the Foundation for Accounting Education’s highly acclaimed New York State Taxation Conference.

Jay B. Goldberg, CPA, PFS

Mr. Goldberg brings over 25 years experience in managing both the personal and business matters of professionals in the entertainment, financial, medical, real estate and legal fields as well as other high net worth individuals.  Mr. Goldberg assists clients with financial planning and managing their diverse day-to-day financial and administrative activities.  Through a proactive planning process, Mr. Goldberg works closely with each client to understand their specific needs and accordingly develops a customized financial plan.

Mr. Goldberg received his B.A. from Baruch College of the City University of New York and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He is licensed as a CPA in New York and is Certified as a Personal Financial Specialist.

Mr. Goldberg is a current Board Member of the Parrish Art Museum and holds the position of Executive Board Member and Treasurer of the Worldwide Children’s Foundation of New York.

Martin L. Greenberg, CPA

Martin L. Greenberg, CPA, Partner, joined RSSM in December of 1979. He is also responsible for a diversified client base including the beverage industry, importers and distributors, manufacturers, ad specialty industry and the real estate industry. He has approximately 30 years of experience in providing accounting and auditing services.  Mr. Greenberg also has a very strong tax background and thus also specializes in tax planning for closely held businesses, as well as high net worth individuals.

In addition to accounting, auditing and tax, he provides consulting services including business valuations, mergers and acquisitions, estate planning, litigation support services, stockholder and employment agreements. He has testified as an expert witness on numerous occasions on behalf of his clients.

Mr. Greenberg also has extensive experience with start-up companies. Since a number of these companies do not have the wherewithal to hire a CFO, he has acted as a liaison between the accounting department and management providing high end accounting decisions.

Mr. Greenberg was responsible for spearheading the marketing efforts of RSSM. He is also the Past Chairman of the firm’s marketing committee.

Mr. Greenberg is a graduate of Iona College in New York. He is a CPA in New York and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Association for Accounting Marketing. He has lectured on various subjects in the accounting and tax fields. Mr. Greenberg has also served on the Advisory Council to Independence Community Bank.

Isidor Hefter, CPA

Isidor Hefter has been with the firm for over 25 years. He is a senior partner and specializes in tax planning and research for corporate and high net worth individuals, estate tax planning and representation before the Internal Revenue Service, the State and City of New York and other state and local governments. Representation before the State of New York has included income tax, residency and domiciliary issues, as well as sales use tax audits. He is especially skilled in advising business owners on how to best plan for their taxes and simultaneously achieve their financial goals.

Prior to joining this firm, Mr. Hefter was a member of the Finance Group at BP North America, Inc., the U.S. holding company for the British Petroleum Company PLC. Mr. Hefter was also with the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen, as a senior member of their tax department, involved in both corporate and individual taxes.

Mr. Hefter received his B.S. in Accounting at CCNY, Brooklyn College, NY. He attended the Master’s in Taxation Program at Pace University, NY.  Mr. Hefter is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  He is a lecturer in the firm’s continuing education program, in the areas of federal and state income taxes and sales and use taxes.

Dov Klein, CPA

Dov Klein has over 30 years of experience specializing in audits, reviews & compilations of financial statements of clients in various industries including import & distribution, diamond & jewelry, hospitality, health care, manufacturing as well as a concentration in the following industries: Construction (General Contractors and Trade Contractors), Real Estate Development, Real Estate Operators, and Distributors; Corporate and Individual tax planning for closely held companies and their owners; Foreign investments in U.S. real estate.

Mr. Klein has consulted on matters in litigation, been engaged to provide due diligence in mergers and acquisitions, as well as business planning for growing businesses, especially owner-managed.

He is a CPA licensed in New York and Florida.  Mr. Klein received his BS from Brooklyn College of New York, NY and has taken advanced courses in Taxation of Real Estate Transactions and Low Income Housing Tax Credit.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (“NYSSCPA”).

Avery E. Neumark, CPA, JD, LL.M.

Avery E. Neumark, is the Partner-in-Charge of the firm’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice and is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.

He is also an adjunct professor at Brooklyn Law School and the Fordham University Graduate School of Business.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Neumark was a tax partner specializing in executive compensation and employee benefits planning with Ernst & Young and Weber Lipshie & Co.

Mr. Neumark is a former Commissioner of the New York State Insurance Fund. From 1987-1994, he served as a Special Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor of the State of New York, Stan Lundine. In 1991, Governor Cuomo appointed Mr. Neumark Chairman of the New York State Temporary Commission on Worker’s Compensation.

Mr. Neumark is a member of the American Bar Association’s Employee Benefits Committee and is the past chairman of the Fringe Benefits Sub-committee. He has served on the Board of Directors of the New York State Society of CPA and is a member of its Employee Benefits Committee and Mediation and Arbitration Committee.  He has served on the Tax Executive Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Also, he recently joined the National Editorial Board (NEB) for Trendlines, a publication of PDI Global/Thomson Reuters.  He is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Employee Benefits Committee and the Tax Management Compensation Planning Advisory Board.  He has lectured throughout the United States to such groups as the American Bar Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Young Presidents Organization, New York University Institute of Federal Taxation, New York State Society of CPA’s, International Association for Financial Planning, American Compensation Association, Institute of Certified Financial Planners and the Practising Law Institute.

A cum laude graduate of Yeshiva University, Mr. Neumark received his JD from Brooklyn Law School and his LL.M in taxation from the New York University of Law.

Mr. Neumark has contributed to the Employee Benefits Handbook: Employment Law Series—Executive Compensation: International Tax Journal; Bank Officers’ Handbook of Commercial Law; The Rights of Aging—Perspectives for the 1980s, and the Journal of Partnership Taxation. Mr. Neumark has recently been quoted in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Forbes, Business Week, Money Magazine and other publications on current compensation issues.

In addition to his professional affiliations, Mr. Neumark is active in many non-profit organizations. He is the Vice President of the Orthodox Union. He is Chairman of the pension plan subcommittee of the UJA-Federation in New York and also serves on its legal and tax panel.

Alfred M. Pruskowski, CPA/ABV/CFF/CGMA, CFE, CVA, Partner-in-Charge, Forensic and Valuation Services, has over 40 years in the public accounting profession specializing in forensic accounting, business valuations and management advisory services.

Mr. Pruskowski has been an expert witness in litigation and forensic accounting matters before the American Arbitration Association, the Superior Court of the State of New Jersey, the Superior Court of the State of New York, Nassau County (NY) Superior Court and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court – Southern District of New York.  Matters litigated include forensic investigation of real estate partnership transactions in connection with partnership disputes, independence and behavioral standards in the practice of public accounting; valuation real estate partnerships; and valuation of intellectual property.

Mr. Pruskowski is licensed as a CPA in New York and New Jersey.  He also holds designations of Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Certified Financial Forensics (CFF), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and is Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV).  Mr. Pruskowski received his B.S. in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and the Board of Neutrals, American Arbitration Association.  Mr. Pruskowski is a frequent lecturer at professional seminars sponsored by the Foundation for Accounting Education.

Frank A. Petitto, CPA

Frank Petitto specializes in providing accounting and auditing, as well as tax services to the construction, insurance, real estate and apparel industries, as well as estate and financial planning.

He is a CPA licensed in New York. Mr. Petitto received his BBA from Bernard M. Baruch College of New York, NY. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants(“NYSSCPA”).

He has served as treasurer for the campaign committees of a United States Congressman and a Borough President of the City of New York. He is also a member of the construction contractors committee of the NYSSCPA.

Neil A. Sonenberg, CPA

Neil Sonenberg, CPA, Partner, who has over 25 years of experience, joined the firm in November 1981.  He is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and the Partner-in-Charge of the Real Estate Services Group for the firm.  A Profitability Consultant, he specializes in providing services to the real estate industry including commercial building owners, operators and developers, apartment building operators, building maintenance services, co-op and condominium boards, and Common Interest Realty Associations.  He has particular expertise in the analysis of lease escalation and labor/electrical escalations and in real estate reduction analysis (certiorari). His efforts have resulted in his clients receiving significant savings.  Mr. Sonenberg assists client’s value buildings and helps them decide whether it makes sense to pursue acquiring it at a specific price.  Also, on many occasions he helps tax structure such buying or selling of real estate to maximize tax benefits to his clients and has experience analyzing transfer taxes.  Mr. Sonenberg has also performed extensive forensic work in the real estate industry and has testified and been deposed on various occasions.

Mr. Sonenberg has also been involved in several New York State Tax Court cases with respect to determining fair market values of Cooperative Apartment Buildings in New York City.  Testifying in tax court as a witness for his corporate client and winning the cases resulting in no additional assessment.

He is also involved in such areas as manufacturing and service area clients, seeking to use his understanding of communicating and tax-saving ideas for clients.  He has assisted in acquiring such companies as well as in assisting in determining valuing for Employee Stock Option Plans.

Mr. Sonenberg is a CPA licensed in New York and a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, NY.   He is a member of the American Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Building Owners and Managers Association and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (“NYSSCPA”).  Mr. Sonenberg has also served on various NYSSCPA committees and has lectured to the Real Estate Cooperative Board.   Mr. Sonenberg also serves as the Treasurer of Yeshiva Central Queens School and Young Israel of Hillcrest.

Alan M. Willinger, CPA, JD

Alan M. Willinger is a Partner in the Tax Department and serves on the firm’s Executive Committee.  His expertise encompasses the areas of individual, partnership and corporate tax law with particular emphasis on planning for closely-held businesses and their owners. His other areas of specialization include real estate taxation, representation before the Internal Revenue Service and State and Local agencies, preparation of ruling requests to the Internal Revenue Service, corporate restructuring and reorganizations, estate planning and business succession planning. Included among his clients are those in the field of envelope manufacturing, securities brokerage, insurance and real estate, in addition to modeling agencies, trade contractors, apparel and other textile producers.

Mr. Willinger received his BA from New York University and his JD from Brooklyn Law School. He is admitted to the New York State Bar, U.S. Tax Court and Federal District Court – Eastern District and Southern District, and is a member of the American Bar Association, Section of Taxation, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a former arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association.  Mr. Willinger is a former Board Manager and Treasurer of the 400 Central Park West Condominium, a role he held for over 20 years.  He is currently the Vice President of the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Stewart Berger, CPA

Stewart Berger, CPA, Tax Principal, has over 30 years of experience providing tax and estate consulting services to closely held companies and high net worth individuals.  He is a member of the firm’s  Fiduciary Services Group.

Mr. Berger received his B.S. from Brooklyn College.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants (“NYSSCPA”).  He served on the Nominating Committee of the NYSSCPAs and also a member of the Closely Held and S Corporation Committee where he served as chair.  He is currently serving on the Rapid Response Committee of the Tax Division Oversight Committee of the NYSSCPA.  Also, he is currently the co-chair of the Closely Held and Flow Through Entities annual conference and previously served as Chairman of the Evening Technical session of the Closely Held and S Corporation committee for the NYSSCPAs.  He has also written several articles for professional publications and has been quoted in various industry trades and newspapers.  Mr. Berger also co-authored a chapter in the Handbook of Budgeting, Sixth Edition published by John Wiley & Sons Inc.

Rosanne G. Bowen, CPA, Principal, has over twelve years public accounting experience and joined the firm in September 1997.  Ms. Bowen specializes in providing accounting and auditing services to the manufacturing, insurance, real estate, modeling, and jewelry industries.  Additionally, she has extensive experience in auditing employee benefit plans and handles SEC clients.

Ms. Bowen is a CPA licensed in New York.  She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Queens College, New York, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting.  She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (“NYSSCPA”).  Ms. Bowen has served two years on the Accounting and Review Services Committee and is presently serving on the Auditing Standards Committee at the NYSSCPA.

Burgman E. Connolly, CPA

Burgman Connolly is the firm’s director of quality control, whose primary responsibility is to safeguard the firm’s due diligence process by establishing and maintaining policies and procedures to comply with accounting and auditing standards, including SEC reporting and disclosure rules and regulations, and reviewing and approving all financial statements and supporting documentation for compliance with standards.

Mr. Connolly is a specialist in financial reporting and auditing of certain industries including colleges and universities, hospitals, pensions and other benefits plans, construction contractors, property and casualty insurance and not-for-profit organizations.

Mr. Connolly is a graduate of the City College of New York, where he received a BBA degree in public accounting, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”) and of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a registered peer reviewer for the AICPA Peer Review Program and a lecturer and discussion leader for the Foundation for Accounting Education, and for the firm’s continuing professional education program on accounting and auditing and other subjects.

Craig Goodman, CPA, CGMA

Craig Goodman is a Principal in the Professional Standards and Practices Group with more than 30 years of accounting and auditing experience.  Mr. Goodman works with a wide range of clients including international financial organizations, corporations, partnerships, not-for-profit organizations and closely held businesses.  He has extensive expertise in financial statement preparation including auditing US GAAP, SEC, domestic and foreign private issuer registration and regulatory compliance, federal income tax and other comprehensive basis of accounting financial statements, financial forecasts and projections, and Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 internal control over financial reporting.

Mr. Goodman has specialized knowledge in the financial services industry serving investment companies, broker-dealers, investment managers, employee benefit plans and real estate entities.  He possesses specialized capital markets experience in connection with accounting for derivatives and other financial instruments, asset securitizations, investment management, business combinations and international financial organizations.

Mr. Goodman received his B.A. from Long Island University.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants where he serves as the Incoming Chair of the Financial Accounting Standards Committee.

Michael Kaplan, CPA

Michael Kaplan is a Principal in the Professional Standards & Practices Group.  He has over 18 years of public accounting experience and joined the firm in June 2014.  He has specialized in assisting clients with their annual audit requirements in a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, life sciences, broadcasting, retail, restaurants, apparel, publishing, software, technology and professional services.  Many of these clients were portfolio companies of private equity funds, including a company that filed an initial public offering.

Mr. Kaplan has also served both public and private clients with audits of their employee benefits plans, including 401(k)’s, 403(b)’s, 11K’s, and health and welfare benefit plans.  Michael has been a speaker on employee benefit plans and has presented on national webcasts, at seminars, and Certified Professional Education courses.  In addition, he has written articles on various employee benefit plan topics.

Mr. Kaplan received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Delaware.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.  He is licensed to practice in New Jersey and New York.

Barry Koch, CPA

Barry Koch, CPA, Principal, has over 25 years of public accounting and financial management experience.  Mr. Koch specializes in providing accounting, audit and tax services to the insurance, real estate, securities brokerage, financial services industries and employee benefit plans.  He is the principal in charge of audits of property and casualty insurance company.  Also, Mr. Koch was the principal in charge of an audit of the domestic estates managed by the New York Liquidation Bureau.

He is a CPA licensed in New York and received his B.S. in Accounting from Queens College, NY.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Donald Leavy

Don Leavy is a Principal and the Director of Human Resources responsible for the firm’s policy management and administration, performance review process, compensation planning, benefits administration, recruitment and staff development.

Mr. Leavy brings over 31 years of experience to his role of Principal and Director of Human Resources. After graduating Baruch College in 1969 he joined Eisner & Lubin as a staff accountant. He then moved over to private accounting and became the controller/treasurer of two apparel firms for 23 years.  His role also included various human resource functions. Don then joined RSSM in 1996 as the Director of Human Resources.

Mr. Leavy is the President of both the Administrative Accountants Group and The New York Chapter of the Association for Accounting Administration.  Both groups consists of accounting firms located in the New York Metropolitan Area that meet on a regular basis to discuss Human Resource issues effecting the public accounting industry.

Norman Levine, CPA

Norman Levine, CPA, is a Principal with over 35 years of experience. He joined the firm in February 1995. He handles individual and business taxation, including corporate, federal consolidation, multistate taxation and partnerships.

Additionally, he handles international tax matters, inbound and outbound, plus resident and non-resident alien matters.  Also, Mr. Levine has handled federal and state income tax and sales tax examinations for RSSM clients.

Mr. Levine is a graduate of CCNY (Baruch College), NY with a B.B.A. in Accounting, plus an M.S. in Taxation from Long Island University, NY. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (“NYSSCPA”).  He is a member of The International Tax Committee of The NYSSCPA.

Michael J. Moss, CPA, JD

Michael J. Moss is a Principal in the Tax Department, leading the Fiduciary Services Group.  His expertise encompasses the areas of trusts, estates, gifting, probate, and individuals.  His other areas of specialization include not-for-profit, federal and state tax controversies, family offices, same sex couples, and divorce.  Included among his clients are professional athletes, entertainers, corporate senior management executives (active and retired), attorneys, medical professionals, entrepreneurs, and finance professionals.

Mr. Moss received his BBA from Emory University, with distinction and his JD from University of Miami School of Law.  He was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Book Award for Trusts and Estates.  He is admitted to the New York, Florida and Connecticut Bars, and is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Jon S. Rosmarin

Jon S. Rosmarin, Principal, has over 20 years of experience and joined the firm in December 1991. He handles individual, partnership and business taxation engagements, plus tax planning for high net worth individuals. He is experienced with large scale real estate partnerships. He has represented clients before various Federal and State authorities involving income tax matters.

Mr. Rosmarin received his B.A. in Psychology, his M.S. in Accounting and his M.S. in Taxation from the State University of New York, Albany, NY. He is a lecturer for the firm’s Continuing Education program in the area of federal and state taxation. Additionally, he is involved with federal and state electronic filing services provided by the firm.

Baruch College.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (“NYSSCPA”) where he has been an active member of various committees in both professional organizations.  Mr. Safier has also lectured on various accounting and tax topics as a faculty member of the Foundation for Accounting Education, the educational division of the NYSSCPA’s, and has been published on various income tax and estate tax matters.  Mr. Safier has been interviewed on radio and television by reporters seeking his opinion on various tax matters and procedures.  In addition to being a licensed CPA, Mr. Safier holds the designations of Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) issued by the AICPA and is a Fellow of the American Board of Forensic Accounting for American College of Forensic Examiners Institute (FABFA).  He is also a former adjunct instructor of Accounting at Pace University in New York.  Mr. Safier is a member of the New Jersey chapters of the Association for Corporate Growth and Turnaround Management Association as well as the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey.  He is a former member of the board of directors of Crystal Run Village, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that owns and operates group homes for the developmentally disabled in Rockland, Orange and Sullivan counties of New York.

Darya Shneyder, CPA, Principal, has over eight years of public accounting experience and joined the firm in September 2006.  Mrs. Shneyder specializes in providing accounting, auditing, advisory and taxation services to the real estate, manufacturing and distributing industries. Additionally, she has experience in auditing employee benefit plans and model agencies, as well as taxation experience for non-for-profit clients.

Mrs. Shneyder is a member of the Company’s Auditing Reengineering Committee, working closely with the Company’s Professional Standards and Practices Group. She is also a member of the Company’s Real Estate Services Group.

Mrs. Shneyder is a CPA licensed in New York.  She is a graduate of Baruch College, New York, receiving a Bachelor of Business Arts.  She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Dean L. Surkin, JD, LL.M.

Dean L. Surkin, JD, LL.M., is a Principal and tax attorney with broad-based experience in tax planning, estates and trusts, including probate matters. Mr. Surkin has served on the editorial staffs of Prentice-Hall, Matthew Bender and the Research Institute of America. He was a principal in Surkin & Handlin, P.C. until 1997, when he joined Moore Stephens, P.C., as in-house tax counsel. He has litigated major cases in the fields of taxation, probate and general commercial litigation, and once made the front page of New York Law Journal successfully defending his younger brother on a speeding ticket charge.

Mr. Surkin received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1973 (double major in mathematics and political science), his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1976, and his LLM. in taxation from New York University School of Law in 1985. He is admitted to the New York State Bar (1977), the Federal District Courts of the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Tax Court.

Mr. Surkin holds the faculty appointments of Adjunct Professor at Pace University Graduate School of Business and Adjunct Associate Professor at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies. He is the program coordinator of the Estate and Gift Taxation and Planning Certificate Program at NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies. He has presented seminars to the American Society of Women Accountants, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and many private groups. His published articles on tax law have appeared in peer-reviewed journals, practitioner’s journals, and the popular press.

Fabio Berkowicz, CPA, Director of Business Development

Fabio Berkowicz, Director of Business Development, has over 30 years experience, and joined the firm in December of 2005.  Prior to joining RSSM, Mr. Berkowicz was a Partner at Edward Isaacs & Company (1981 – 2000), the Partner-in-Charge of the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut offices of McGladrey & Pullen LLP (2000 – 2003), a Consultant to Public Companies (2003), and the Chief Financial Officer of Drinks America Holding Company (2005 – 2007).

Mr. Berkowicz specializes in providing accounting and auditing, as well as tax services, to the following industries-diamond and jewelry, manufacturing, retail, construction and wholesale and distribution.

Mr. Berkowicz received his BS and MS from Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York, NY.  Mr. Berkowicz is a CPA licensed in New York and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Alisa Morris – Director of Marketing

Alisa Morris joined the firm in October 2001 as the Director of Marketing.  Ms. Morris is primarily responsible for the supervision of all marketing/sales support services, program development and corporate marketing efforts including:

  • Creative and strategic development of web sites, brochures, presentations, press releases and print ads
  • Development, coordination and production of proposals, qualifications and other marketing-related communications
  • Development and implementation of firm marketing plan, individual marketing plans and niche plans
  • Creation of marketing budget for firm and niche groups
  • Organization and implementation of trade show activities, speaking engagements and sales/contact meetings
  • Client contact to reinforce relationships
  • Coordination of all social media outlets
  • Development of internal newsletter
  • Integral part of the Industry Services Groups (niche groups)

Ms. Morris received her BS in Marketing with a minor in Economics from St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, New Jersey.  She is a national member of the Association for Accounting Marketing (“AAM”), a member and past co-chair of the New York Metropolitan Chapter of AAM, a past member of the Chapter Development Committee of National AAM, a member of the Marketing and Business Development Special Interest Group of MSI Global Alliance and a past member of the American Marketing Association.

Shiny Samuel – Director of MIS

Shiny Samuel joined the firm in 1998 as the Director of MIS.  Ms. Samuel’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the functions of the Department, and managing the companywide LAN.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting all areas of the SAN.
  • Setting up servers, installing applications, and providing support for the various Tax and Accounting softwares.
  • Ensuring the Exchange servers are functioning properly and troubleshoot issues with mail flow.
  • Enabling users to access the network out of the office and troubleshoot any issues they may have using Citrix.
  • Prioritizing work and delegating it to the other Network Administrators.
  • Researching various products related to networking, and interfacing with the product vendors.
  • Working with support teams on issues related to routers and firewalls.
  • Providing companywide network security, anti-virus, and anti-spam support.
  • Creating SQL databases and performing daily functions to ensure proper database management.
  • Ensuring that proper backup of the system is maintained at all times.
  • Providing desk support, as needed.

Ms. Samuel graduated from Baruch College with a BA in Computer Information System. Subsequently, she enrolled at Computer Career Center for Computer Networking.
